"Is there an Android version?"

Yes. Kurvenfokus for Android is in open testing on Google Play — free, no subscription, no account. The app reads your GPX rides, finds every corner and shows you how you actually rode.

Get it on Google Play

Kurvenfokus is a free app for Android and iOS that imports GPX files from motorcycle rides, detects corners automatically, calculates lean angle from speed and change of heading, and analyzes telemetry data. It reads files from calimoto, Komoot, Kurviger, Motobit, Curve Tracker and other GPX sources.

Where lean angle actually comes from

A motorcycle in a corner balances itself: centrifugal force and gravity add up to one force pointing along the bike's axis. To the phone's accelerometer that feels exactly like riding straight — it senses no tilt at all. Derive lean angle from the accelerometer and you mostly measure how crooked the phone sits in its mount.

So Kurvenfokus does the math differently: from speed and change of heading. How fast your direction turns, how fast you are going while it does — that gives the roll angle a single-track vehicle has to hold in that corner. On Android the value is smoothed with the gyroscope on top.

The result is a calculated value, not a measured one. It is the lean angle that belongs to your line — not the one a sensor bolted to the frame would have read.

Android and iPhone side by side

The core is identical on both platforms. Three features are iPhone-only for now — we are closing that gap step by step.

Feature Android iPhone
Corner detection from GPX yes yes
Lean angle per corner (left/right) yes yes
Map with corner markers yes yes
Elevation profile and mountain passes yes yes
Backups that restore on the other platform yes yes
English and German yes yes
Gold Roads and the Pass Hunter collection — yes
Route video export — yes

Three steps to your first analysis

  1. Install the app from Google Play — open testing, free, no sign-up.

  2. Import a GPX file from a ride you actually rode — from calimoto, Komoot, Motobit or Curve Tracker.

  3. The precheck tells you upfront whether the file is detailed enough for corner analysis — then your results are ready.

Where the limits are

We do not quote an accuracy in degrees, because we have not measured one. What we can say: the numbers depend on how densely your GPS recorded. A file with one point per second gives a different picture than one with a point every five seconds — the app flags it in the import report when the data is thin.

More on the math itself is on the technology page, and the full history of both apps is in the changelog.

Frequently asked questions about the Android version

Is Kurvenfokus available for Android?

Yes. Kurvenfokus for Android is in open testing on Google Play — anyone can install it, free of charge, with no subscription and no account. It requires Android 10 or newer.

What does the Android version cost?

Nothing. Every feature is free during open testing, there is no subscription and no hidden cost. We will announce any future pricing well in advance.

Which files can I import?

GPX files from any app that exports them: calimoto, Komoot, Kurviger, Motobit, Curve Tracker, Garmin and others. Share the file with Kurvenfokus and corner detection runs automatically.

Does the app measure lean angle with the accelerometer?

No. In a corner, centrifugal force and gravity cancel out, so a motorcycle accelerometer points almost straight down — it does not sense the tilt at all. Kurvenfokus calculates the roll angle from speed and change of heading instead, and on Android it smooths that value using the gyroscope.

Is the app available in English?

Yes. Since September 2026 the Android version is fully bilingual. You can switch the language inside the app.

Can I move my rides over from an iPhone?

Yes. Since September 2026 backups restore in both directions — from iPhone to Android and back. Your rides keep their corner counts and metrics.

Which features are missing compared to the iPhone version?

Gold Roads, the Pass Hunter collection and the route video export are iPhone-only for now. Corner detection, lean angle, map, elevation profile, mountain pass detection and backups exist on both platforms.

Is my ride data uploaded anywhere?

No. Everything is analyzed on your device. There is no account, no forced cloud sync and no upload of your rides.
